case study

The objective of this kitchen remodel was to freshen up the existing color palette while creating a more functional space for the homeowner. After living with a kitchen bathed in pink for years, she was ready to make a bold change in both color and layout. She also desired a smoother transition between the kitchen and dining rooms and an overall more visually appealing space. The result was a sleek, modern kitchen with a host of upgraded features that met the homeowner’s wants and needs.

The approach was to introduce a brand new color scheme through not only carefully selected finishes, but also fixtures and hard goods. The homeowner’s existing black Sub-Zero refrigerator was preserved and served as an inspiration for the newly introduced palette of silver, dark gray and white.

The previously pink island countertop was swapped out for a more durable Carrara Grigio Quartz countertop, while the kitchen’s perimeter countertop was replaced by Cosentino’s Silestone brand.

The kitchen also enjoyed a cabinetry upgrade with two-toned luxury Sollera cabinetry, boasting both a dark shale stain and a lighter painted finish. A custom China hutch was designed and situated against the existing wall to maximize its efficiency within the space. The windows were fitted with Duralee odyssey smoke valences to tie the color scheme together and unify the spaces.

To create a more visually-appealing kitchen, heights of the refrigerator wall, pantry, and cabinetry were unified. The remodeled room also featured an easy bypass from the kitchen to the dining room area, creating a smooth transition between spaces. By opening up the kitchen to the dining room, natural light was subsequently welcomed into both areas.

The upgraded kitchen was also outfitted with brand new fixtures and appliances, including a Wolf cooktop and ventilation hood, a Kohler Simplice faucet and matching soap dispenser, Mirabelle undermount double bowl sink, and eco-friendly InSinkErator water dispenser and evolution garbage disposal.

Hardwood flooring was installed throughout the area, and the kitchen was fitted with Cree CR Series LED recessed lighting. Luxurious opal pendants by Stone Lighting provided useful task lighting above the countertops.

This project is an ideal representation of thoughtful design and unique creativity during a large kitchen remodel. The resulting kitchen boasts a contemporary design scheme that functions perfectly for the homeowner.
